Job Posting: Policy Manager, Government AffairsWe are excited to
invite you to join our nimble and growing government affairs team
at the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) as Policy Manager,
Government Affairs. Our team represents leading companies across
the cleaning product supply chain, including P&G, Clorox, BASF,
DOW, and many other innovative organizations. We are looking for
someone who can help us expand our policymaking footprint across
both federal and state jurisdictions.The Policy Manager, Government
Affairs is responsible for tracking and researching policy and
political developments, representing ACI at public and coalition
venues, communicating between ACI staff teams, membership groups,
and external stakeholders, and communicating with policymakers at
the state or federal levels, as needed. This role will support
ACI's purpose: serving the growth and innovation of the U.S.
cleaning products industry by advancing the health and quality of
life of people and protecting our planet.The Policy Manager must
balance the major responsibilities of this position across state
and federal jurisdictions, as guided by ACI Government Affairs
leadership. The Policy Manager must excel in fast-moving regulatory
and legislative environments that require nimbleness and clear
communication while reaching key deadlines.1. PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or
related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in government relations or public
policy in the government and/or private sector.
- Knowledge of membership databases.
- Knowledge of government relations advocacy tools and
databases.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies that advocate ACI
positions on legislation, regulation, or trends across multiple
levels of government.
- Must be able to effectively communicate to internal members and
staff and external stakeholders and policymakers.
- Must be able to meet established deadlines while balancing
multiple priorities.2. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESState Policy &
Advocacy Management
- Work with AVP, Government Affairs and Strategy to identify and
track state legislative and regulatory ACI priority policy as
directed.
- Keep track of committee schedules, hearing dates, and testimony
deadlines.
- Be responsible for regular updates to AVP, Government Affairs
and Strategy.
- Participate in inter-industry coalitions on issues, as
directed.
- Keep track of ACI state engagements.
- Serve as a policy analyst on select ACI policy priority
issue(s).
- Assist in direct, in-person, or virtual lobbying on other key
policy issues.
- Assist in tracking legislative and regulatory activity at the
federal level.
- Provide in-depth policy research and development assistance on
key relevant federal policy issues to assess potential impact on
ACI member companies.
- Represent ACI at relevant Congressional hearings, meetings, and
conferences.
- Includes direct federal lobbying on Capitol Hill on key
priority issue(s).
- Amenable to register as a federal lobbyist (20% of the time or
more on federal lobbying activities).Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist with government affairs-related events, such as Fly-Ins,
Committee meetings, Capitol Hill receptions and events, and
political events via ACI PAC.
- Communicate with ACI members and facilitate robust
relationships.
- Provide timely updates to internal ACI member Committees and
Task Forces.
- Represent ACI at relevant industry coalition
venues.Communication
- Responsible for being prepared to brief senior management on
key policy developments and potential impacts on ACI members on the
policy issue(s) managed.
- Develop compelling messaging and talking points to effectively
communicate ACI policy positions to policymakers, external
stakeholders, and ACI members and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.Range: $60,000 - $70,000EQUAL
