Inova Health System is seeking *Radiation Therapist* of all experience levels to join this dynamic team. We have openings for full-time, part-time and PRN working 8-hour day shifts Monday to Friday. *Requirements for consideration:*

*Radiation Therapist 1*
* Associate degree in Radiation Therapy
* American Registered Radiologic Technologist certified or registry eligible within one year of employment.
* Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.

*Radiation Therapist 2*
* Associate degree in Radiation Therapy or Certification.
* 2 years of experience as a Staff Therapist in a Radiation Therapy department with experience in linear accelerators and patient simulation
* American Registered Radiologic Technologist required upon start.
* VA License required at PROC (Woodbridge)

*Job Responsibilities:*
* The Radiation Therapist communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, supervisors, and outside contacts.
* Provides education and support of methods appropriate to patients' levels of understanding and motivation while including families and caregivers in education and training as appropriate.
* Positions all patients for initial treatment to verify set-up; Verifies beam directional devices, ancillary aids and blocking via record and verification systems on machines and patients' computerized treatment plans before initiation of radiation beam; Maintains accurate records of daily treatments and other records as required.
* Acts as a Liaison between physicians and machine staff by utilizing technical expertise for all difficult/complex treatments on various machines.
* Documents any corrections in charts resulting from changes in the originally prescribed course of treatment; Detects unsatisfactory set-up and/or errors and resolves/reports to physicians.
* Ensures that portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals. Recognizes the need for adjustments in treatment ports when comparing simulation/portal films or patient positions; Performs daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulator and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters. Records findings and reports erratic operations of equipment.
* Verifies operation of emergency shut offs and interlocks; Participates or provides assistance with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry. Attends department in-services/conferences and meetings.
* Demonstrates knowledge of department treatment modalities and protocols in scheduling, set-up and treatment of patients; Keeps abreast of new technology in field of practice and assists in the development of new techniques, participation in research projects and/or educational activities.
* May perform additional duties as assigned.
