Job Description:
The EP Clinical Nurse Coordinator will support our
Electrophysiology Device and Arrhythmia teams at the Ambulatory
Care Center in downtown Richmond. We are looking for a passionate,
experienced cardiology RN with at least 3 years of cardiology
experience who is eager to step into a critical role to elevate
their career!The Outpatient Electrophysiology Device and Arrhythmia
Nurse Coordinator demonstrates clinical knowledge in cardiology and
applies this knowledge to support electrophysiology patients at VCU
Health. The Nurse Coordinator provides strong provider support in
clinic, coordinates patient management and assists in patient flow
throughout the health system. Processes, analyzes and enacts
appropriately on readings from cardiac devices, recorded cardiac
rhythms from device transmissions, smart watch ECG's and office
ECG's; closely collaborates with providers to provide safe and
efficient patient care. The Nurse Coordinator also assists
providers in clinic with pre and post patient assessments, reviews
and documents patient history and chief complaints in EPIC in the
form of a history and physical, provides patient education, device
interrogation, medication refills, and pending procedural, lab and
testing orders. Nurse coordinator supports patient care needs as a
part of collaboratives with Radiology and CV imaging, closely
collaborates with EP Lab and referring provider practices.Essential
Job StatementsManages the care of this patient population to
optimize outcomes by setting care goals with patients and medical
staff.Analyze/interpret remote transmissions from pacemakers,
defibrillators, heart monitors and smart watches. Use data to
determine if rate/rhythm is critical and escalate
appropriately.Continually collects and evaluate data to direct
treatments and coordinate testing to decrease ED visitsManage
patient symptoms. Acute episodes collaborate with treating
provider. Manage care across the continuum from testing to
implantation and follow up care.Close collaboration/provider
support in clinic and functioning as a part of the care team.
Assist provider and patient in all aspects of care along the care
continuum.Provide education on medications for heart rate, rhythm
control and anticoagulationInitiate and coordinate same day
testing. Complete urgent prior authorizations for testing as
neededProvide education regarding disease process, symptoms
management and treatment plan including cardiac procedures.Assess
outside referrals for appropriateness and urgency.Coordinate with
clinic staff to manage provider clinic schedules to add additional
clinics and/or offload patients to provide additional space for
critical patients as neededRefill cardiac medications and ensure
yearly follow up per guidelinesRelays and reviews testing results
with patients with provider recommendationsTravel to Williamsburg,
Stony Point and Downtown clinics depending on providers
scheduleEnsure responsibility and visible commitment of diversity

Demonstrates knowledge and related competencies of the principles

older)Employment QualificationsRequired Education: Bachelor's
Degree in Nursing from an accredited programPreferred Education:
Master's Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited
programCertification in specialty areaLicensing/
CertificationLicensure/Certification Required: Current Compact RN
licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state. BLS
RequiredLicensure/Certification Preferred: Certification in cardiac
nursing or electrophysiologyMinimum QualificationsYears and Type of
Required Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in cardiologyOther
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Experience in cardiology,
preferably CICU or telemetry setting, ECG interpretationCultural
