Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 01/26/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Facility: University of Maryland Saint Joseph Medical Center Location: 7601 Osler Dr, Towson, MD 21204 Start Date: January 26, 2026 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights – 3×12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) Schedule: Every Other Weekend Float Required: Yes – within MS/Tele specialty and lower acuity units as needed Block Schedule: Not Available Position Overview The Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit at University of Maryland Saint Joseph Medical Center provides comprehensive care to adult, geriatric, and select adolescent patients. The unit manages a wide range of medical and post-surgical patients, including complex orthopedic, neurological, and general surgical cases. Nurses are expected to have strong telemetry skills, solid clinical judgment, and the ability to manage a patient ratio of up to 1:5. The facility utilizes Epic for documentation and emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care. Requirements Licensure: - Active MD RN License or Compact License – Required (Must be in hand at submission) Experience: - Minimum 2 years recent MS/Tele experience – Required - Preference for travelers with experience at more than one healthcare facility Patient Ratio Experience: - Comfortable with 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio – Required Travel Experience: - Travel experience not required (First-time travelers accepted with strong skills) Teaching Hospital Experience: - Not required Community Hospital Experience: - Preferred Local Radius Rule: - Locals within 50 miles – Not Accepted Certifications - BLS (AHA) – Required - ACLS (AHA) – Required - NIHSS – Required - CPI – Preferred Charting System - Epic – Preferred Core Skills & Competencies Medical-Surgical & Telemetry - Cardiac telemetry monitoring - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Use of Rapid Response and Code Teams - CVA and neurological patient care - Pre/Post neurosurgical patient management Lines, IVs & Access - Starting and maintaining IVs - Peripheral and central line care - PICC line management - Port access and management - Blood product administration - Phlebotomy Respiratory Care - Oxygen administration (NC, tanks) - High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) - Non-invasive airway management - CPAP / BiPAP - ABG interpretation (Preferred) Medications & Therapies - Heparin protocols - PCA management - Cardiac drips (no titration) - IV medication administration Renal & GU - Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) - Pre/Post hemodialysis care - Acute and chronic renal failure management Orthopedic & Surgical Care - Orthopedic trauma - Total joint replacements - Peripheral nerve block catheters - Surgical drain management - Wound care and wound vacs Facility & Unit Details Unit: Medical Surgical / Telemetry – 6th Floor Number of Beds: 41 Daily Census: – Patient Age Groups: Adolescents (Tanner score >4 by arrangement), Adults, Geriatrics Patient Ratios: - Days: 1:5 - Nights: 1:5 - Weekends: 1:5 Vaccine Policy - COVID-19 Vaccine: Not Required - Flu Vaccine: Required – No Exemptions HonorVet Technologies Job ID 31673217.
