Position Overview: Western State Hospital is seeking a Moonlighting
Psychiatrist/Physician (OD PRN) who will perform the required
admission assessment of patients brought to the hospital and
respond to the acute medical/psychiatric needs of all inpatients
for the duration of the on-call period; collaborate with on-call
admission coordinator regarding any afterhours referrals to
determine appropriateness of admission and medical clearance;
conduct Admission assessment, including: history, physical exam,
mental status, suicide/risk assessment, preliminary treatment and
management of medical and psychiatric problems; assess and manage
acute psychiatric and medical issues which occur during the on-call
shift on all patients in the hospital. This position will work
Monday-Friday and Holidays, 7 pm - 7 am (12-hour shift), or
Weekends, 7 pm - 7 am. The hours cannot exceed 1,500 hours per
year, and the ideal candidate would work at least 2 shifts per
month. Shifts are scheduled based on availability and/or
preference. Minimum Qualifications - Completion of approved Medical
School and completion or active enrollment in approved residency
program in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine -
License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia -
Active DEA prior to approval of clinical privileges Additional
