Job Summary: As a Unix Operations Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our Unix-based infrastructure to ensure its reliability, security, and performance. You will work closely with the IT operations team, software developers, and other stakeholders to support our business-critical applications and services running on Unix-based platforms. Your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and ability to collaborate effectively will be essential in managing and troubleshooting various Unix systems. Responsibilities:

System Administration:
  • Perform day-to-day administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Unix-based systems and associated services.
  • Configure, install, and upgrade Unix operating systems, ensuring proper integration with the overall IT environment.
  • Implement security measures, access controls, and patch management to protect Unix systems from vulnerabilities.
  • Incident Management:
    • Act as the second-level point of contact for incident escalations related to Unix systems.
    • Investigate and resolve complex issues, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
    • Performance Optimization:
      • Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement to enhance overall system efficiency.
      • Tune and optimize Unix configurations and kernel parameters for optimal application performance.
      • Backup and Recovery:
        • Design and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures for Unix systems.
        • Conduct periodic backup tests to ensure data integrity and implement backup-related improvements.
        • Automation and Scripting:
          • Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks and system provisioning.
          • Identify opportunities for process automation to streamline operations.
          • Collaboration and Documentation:
            • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system requirements and implement changes.
            • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
            • Security Compliance:
              • Ensure Unix systems adhere to internal security policies and industry best practices.
              • Conduct regular security assessments and implement necessary measures to maintain a secure environment. Requirements:
                • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
                • Proven experience (X years) as a Unix Systems Administrator or a related role.
                • Proficiency in Unix-based operating systems such as Linux, Solaris, or AIX.
                • Strong understanding of system administration, networking, and security principles.
                • Experience with virtualization technologies and containerization (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
                • Scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python, Perl) for automation and task automation.
                • Solid knowledge of storage management, backup solutions, and disaster recovery strategies.
                • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
                • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Qualifications
