RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service and Front End Operations Supports
the Co-op’s core values and aligns with the Co-op Code of Conduct.
Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service throughout
the store. Demonstrates leadership at all levels and leads by
example. Addresses customer service concerns in the absence of
department managers. Provides attentive, timely, and friendly
service to internal and external customers at all times and builds
long-term customer satisfaction. Supports owner/equity drives and
donation programs. Collects and processes “Make It Right” forms as
needed. Grocery Department Operations and Merchandising Ensures
adequate inventory and supplies for daily operations, promotions,
special events, and high-volume days. Coordinates with
Merchandising to maintain accurate pricing files and signage.
Communicates promotions and new items to staff and ensures
promotional products are in stock and properly signed. Works with
managers and buyers to manage shrink. Ensures proper storage,
handling, display, and rotation of products. Financial &
Operational Management Assists in the development of operating and
capital budgets for both departments. Reviews departmental
financial reports including sales, margins, labor, and inventory
turns and assists managers in meeting performance targets. Protects
store assets by participating in inventories, following security
practices, and handling incidents to minimize liability.
Coordinates labor allocation to meet margin, labor, and service
goals. Oversees cash handling and deposit processes including daily
reviews, variance tracking, and communication with Finance staff.
Staff Development & Communication Coaches staff and provides
performance feedback. Assists department manager with providing
regular feedback to both grocery and front end staff. Ensures
regular training and performance updates. Helps organize and
participate in department and storewide meetings. Follows
scheduling and attendance procedures. Performs other duties as
assigned. Requirements: REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES A
minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a retail environment and
managing and directing staff. A minimum of one (1) years’
experience and familiarity with natural foods strongly preferred A
minimum of one (1) years’ experience of customer service
experience. Adapts readily based on evolving Co-op needs or in
response to feedback. Maintains composure in highly stressful or
adverse situations. Ability to effectively handle and address
conflict resolution in the workplace. Basic understanding of
financial statements (profit and loss statements, sales, margin,
labor, etc.) Ability to hold others accountable to policies and
procedures. Ability to provide constructive feedback to promote
staff productivity. Ability to set individual performance goals
that align with department and overall Co-op goals. Computer
proficiency (to include Microsoft Office) and familiarity with
receiving systems preferred. ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays,
evenings, weekends. Ability to work in varying temperatures
(approximately 20°ree;F – 90°ree;F). Ability to stand
or sit for long periods at a time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach,
kneel, twist, and climb. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
